Master of Fine Arts

In the Academy’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Acting for Film program, students begin acting in front of the camera from the first week. During this accelerated two-year program, students are immersed in acting technique, learn the vocabulary of filmmaking for actors, learn the logistics of performance on a film set, and the differences between film acting, the demands of television, and stage performance. Additional topics include audition technique, the business of acting, comedy and improvisation, and Shakespeare, among others.

Throughout the program students rehearse and tape film scenes to be analyzed and critiqued in class, as well as perform in staged work in front of live audiences.
